Mount Pleasant Moves Into Playoffs

JAMAICA PREMIER LEAGUE

KINGSTON, JAMAICA

Friday, September 10, 2021

St Ann-based Mount Pleasant confirmed their Jamaica Premier League playoff status with an exciting 5-2 win over Dunbeholden FC at the UWI-JFF Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence.

Mount Pleasant jumped three places to second on 18 points with their fifth win of the season and safely into the playoffs following their comfortable come from behind win.

Meanwhile, it will be a nervous wait for Dunbeholden who now will have to wait until the completion of the Harbour View versus Arnett Gardens encounter.

Dunbeholden is currently holding the last playoff position sitting in the sixth spot on 14 points following their fourth defeat of the season.

Harbour View in the eighth spot on 12 points, can leapfrog them into the final playoff position if they can beat an Arnett Gardens team with nothing basically to playoff having been eliminated from the playoffs last week.

Jourdaine Fletcher scored twice in the 35th and 75th minutes for Mount Pleasant in a come from behind win.

Mark Miller gave Dunbeholden a 13th-minute lead, slotting home following a brilliant turn and through ball from midfield maestro Nickoy Christian.

But just two minutes later, Alwayne Harvey rifled in a powerful freekick and pulled Mount Pleasant levelled in minute 15th.

Atapharoy Bygrave restored Dunbeholden lead once again converting from the penalty spot in the 21st minute as the goals came quick and fast.

Another superb strike from Kevaughn Isaacs once again pulled Mount Pleasant levelled in the 26th minute but Jourdaine Fletcher gave them their first lead tapping home in minute 35.

Kesslon Hall then gave Mount Pleasant some breathing space, tapping home after a mix-up between defender Shaquille Dyer and his goalkeeper Damion Hyatt gave him the simplest of scoring chances.

Fletcher returned with a powerful right-footer that sealed Mount Pleasant’s victory in the 75th minute.
